How a construction estimator cut quote time from 4 hours to one click
The owner was doing 1,500 to 2,000 estimates a year by hand. We built a Chrome extension that lives inside his existing tool: open a job, click a button, get a finished proposal.
The problem
The owner of a Massachusetts asbestos remediation firm was spending up to 4 hours a day writing estimates. Field reps would scope a job, upload photos and notes, and the owner had to turn all of it into a category-by-category spreadsheet. Then write a customer proposal with the right legal language for each hazard type. He was doing 1,500 to 2,000 of these a year.
What we built
- No new app to learn. The extension lives inside the estimating tool the team already uses. When an estimator opens a job, the AI reads the page automatically: photos, field notes, square footage, and hazard type.
- Messy field notes go in, clean quotes come out. Reps write things like "attic insulation, partial chimney wrap, suspect floor tile in kitchen." The AI maps that freeform text to the right pricing categories, the way a senior estimator would.
- The right legal language appears automatically. Each hazard type requires specific wording in the proposal. The AI inserts the correct paragraphs every time. Before, the owner had to remember which words went where.
- The owner can spot-check any quote in seconds. Each line item links back to the photo, the field note, and the rule that produced it. No need to rebuild a quote to verify it.
- No copy-paste, no switching between apps. The AI fills the fields in the existing tool by driving the screen directly.
